      KASHMIRI PANDITS

Kashmir, the Union Territory of India is known as the “Heaven on Earth”. Before 2k19 it was a state of which has unusual powers under “Article 370” in the Indian Constitution. From the time of sovereignty till now, Kashmir’s land had been a matter of dispute between India, Pakistan and China. In Kashmir, Muslims are in majority and Hindus are in minority.
Kashmiri Pandits is one of the communities of Kashmir which was earlier in preponderance but now it is marginal. The Heaven on Earth also faced the Black day in its history. Yes, 19 January 1990 is considered as a black day for the Kashimiri Pandits. The people who once have everything, a house, a job, a family, a status, majority etc. lost it in just a night. Even their identity too in their own native place. The place where they were born and lived with their family, enjoy every phase of life whether happiness or sadness but all of a sudden they have to truss everything and leave that place. Why? It’s a quite big question why they have to leave?
On 19 January 1990 in Kashmir, the majority conditioned them to convert their religion. Either they have to flee from the place otherwise they would be killed. It was announcing from the mikes of mosque so that it was audible to everyone. The place which is the ‘House of ALLAH’, the place to meet with Allah, the place which is considered as the purest place to spread the humanity and love, those uneducated people used it as a medium to spread a sense of fear and insecurityamongst the minorities. Many families converted their religion to stay alive in their valley but those who wanna practice their religion left the valley in the night silently and moved to Jammu or some other places. The religion is accepted by birth or by heart but it cannot be accepted by the power of guns. That day, they were forced to leave their birth place, their identity, their property and their memories. We can’t even imagine the pain faced by them, how helpless they would have felt while leaving their own house. The place where they feel secure, in just one night it turned into a house of terror. The situation was turning miserable day by day. Now they have to spend their life in detention camps that are in Jammu and Delhi. They all just have a single question in their eyes, 'What was their fault'? It is still unanswered. Some are well educated so they started their journey with it. They didn’t recieve any support by the government with except some monthly amount for their expenses. Earning or I might say money is not the only issue faced by them. They have to face the language barrier, the temperature problem which is not acceptable by their body and they fell ill. They all belong to Kashmir where the temperature is always low but suddenly they have to manage in Delhi’s fluctuating temperature, which is quite difficult to manage by them. Once they have a house and a job to live a happy life but now they have to manage in the tents or detention camps. Kashmiri Pandits have a different culture which they lost in the world. Their community has the name kashimiri but they can’t live there in Kashmir. The house and property which they lost are never redeemed to them. The ups and downs they faced, in the past 30 years can’t be faded easily from their life. Some are well settled and some are still surviving for a better livelihood. They all have a hope that someday they got the same dignity in the valley which they have lost 30 years back. Yes, it’s been 30 years of this black day. But the condition of Kashmiri Pandits is not that much better.
The remembrance of black  day still wet the eyes of the people. It was done on the basis of religion but no religion teach you to threaten the human or to kill them. Every religion spread the message of humanity and love not the anger or hate. But who is responsible for that? This question is still unanswered. Some are blaming the majorities and some the government. But the thing to focus is that Kashmiri Pandits lost their identity and their inhabitant place. We can’t erase that day from the history of Kashmir but we can make that place really a heaven to live without any fear of bomb blasts and firing. Heaven is not just meant for beauty but also reflected by beautiful people. So let’s just hope for a good condition of Kashimiri Pandits as well as Kashmir too.
